Planet Size X-Men is off to press, and on the first of June I’m looking at the first PDF of the first issue of X-Men # 1 from Pepe Larraz, Marte Gracia and yours truly. I never thought I’d get to climb this mountain, and I’ll have more to say about that next month.
I wanted to update you on a project I’ve been working on during the past year. I’ll be crowdfunding a book of photographs that will span the last 20 years or so.
I’ll no doubt write more than I would want to for a book of photographs, but I’ll try to keep the words to a minimum. The first act of the book is a bit more raw than I’d like maybe, but it pretty quickly finds its sea legs once I invested in proper gear. I threw myself into street shooting and candids with a Fuji x100, and eventually I convinced myself I deserved a Leica, and that ended up being a really nice piece of glass. I’ve posted many photographs to social media over the years, but the book is largely comprised of photos I’ve held back until now.
It’s a book that spans the globe and stars creators. People making films, TV, comedy, and of course, comic books. Here are just a few of the ones I’ve been noodling on.
Subscribe to my Substack to get updates as I’ll basically be publishing a good chunk of the book here first, and I have some exciting new thoughts about publishing and distribution of the book. It feels like a good time to try something a little disrupting.
I’ll be previewing chapters from the book in the coming months on Substack, so stick around and hope you enjoy the show. Below are just some of the 400 or so photos I’m still sorting, tweaking and writing about.
Still tweaking some of the colors for print. Nothing above is final for a few months.
Thanks a bunch, Gerry!! It looks wonderful. Been a fan of your photography work for a while, to be honest :)
