Back In The Saddle
The WGA strike grinds on, but the world keeps spinning.
It’s the dog days of August and it’s hot on the strike lines. I have faith the we will prevail, and I hope the companies come correct with a fair deal soon. It’s been a hectic summer to say the least, with some drama and even some tertiary drama, but happily the creation of comics remains a bright spot. And speaking of bright spots, the Hellfire Gala was for one night a real event at San Diego Comic Con with some mind-blowing cosplay.
The Hellfire Gala sold out and reprinted.
X-Men 25 sold out and also reprinted.
Uncanny Avengers and The Invincible Iron Man continue to crush, and the Ginormous Kokjü collection which was made possible by Substack is getting ready to go to print this week.
The Paladin Of Axes is being lettered to debut here on Substack. David O’Sullivan’s going to blow your hair back with what he has done on pencils, inks and he’s coloring himself for the first time. This is a completed comic funded via Substack that is just getting the final polishes and proofreading.
The last two logos you saw were from Elliott Gray, a crack designer that hangs his hat at Bungie by day. Wait until you see the ones that Elliott created for the 2024 work.
Also, some more updates: Scott Buoncristiano is hard at work on the second volume of The Dark Room, and we’re just about ready to get the files over to Tamra Bonvillan so she can work her magic on colors. This Ends Tonight is still progressing, but is sliding on the schedule so that Jae and June can have more time to make sure every panel on every page is up to their amazing standards. More on this one soon.
I’ve fulfilled my crowdfunded photo book, Timing/Luck. You can have a look at in this previous post. I ordered some extra copies to give as gifts and have in case of loss and damage. If you’d like to give your coffee table the “me” business check out this link.
Paladin of Axes starts here soon. The rest of this one is for paid subscribers.
