On Thursday of this week I got a call to visit the designer and publisher of Timing/Luck, Blue Trimarchi of Art Works in LA. An aside: he should be your first and only stop him for all your fine art printing needs. Blue rang me with the good news that after a slight delay at the printer in China, my signed vellum pages were bound into the hardcover, and the books are due into the Port Of LA in the next week. It might take another week for them to clear customs and get sorted onto a truck, but it means that all backers of the book should have their rewards by mid-June.
The printer air freighted a single copy to us, and they did a wonderful job. Everything is top notch. The paper stock the cloth cover, the embossed stamped aperture -- which my readers will recognize from one of my Image Comics collaborations: THE DARK ROOM. Thanks again, Elliott Gray — for the fantastic work that continues to make me look good.
Unwrapping this book filled my heart with joy. I still get a kick out of every single collaboration and now that my son is into photography it means even more. Thanks to everyone that helped make it a reality. My next few weeks will be spent spinning my comic book plates, picketing the studios on behalf of the WGA, and printing and signing the giclee prints at Art Works to bundle with the books.
If you live in Los Angeles, stay tuned for news on a little outdoor party on a patio at which you’ll be able to pick up the book.
Keep your eyes on your emails for the backer questions and addresses. I’m waiting until the last possible moment to execute on that in case some of you move.
I overprinted, but not by very much, if there’s anyone out there that would like to order one, I’ll have some information about how to do that after I finish fulfilling the book and prints to the Kickstarter backers first.
THANK YOU to everyone that’s supported this endeavor.
More soon,
GD
PS - Clearance on the title of the new comic has commenced and that means I’ll soon be able to formally announce my next collaboration with David O’Sullivan it and debut it right here on Substack.
