James Tynion, Matthew Rosenberg, Chip Zdarsky and yours truly had a party last night and we did our best to mash-up LA’s comics scene with the visiting comics retailers of the ComicsPro organization. A special shout out to Harley, Jazzlyn, and everyone at Tiny Onion because this simply wouldn’t have happened without them. Thanks also to the hardworking staff at Golden Road Brewery for hosting us. So many of the folks that make comics have comics retail experience and we rarely get to mingle and talk shop.
Comic books have a really unique ecosystem with our direct market into comic shops. They’re more important than ever as box stores and e-commerce run the table in our economy. A comic shop is an oasis of culture, and a place to gather, have fun and discover new stories. I didn’t shoot much last night and didn’t love much of what I shot. I think I needed an off night. Creators, editors and senior leadership from nearly every comic company are hanging out in LA this week, and some folks that have worked together for years are only meeting in person for the first time.
We were talking about new comics. Chip leaving Gotham. Matt Faction moving into Wayne Manor.
Chip’s trading the utility belt for Captain America’s shield so please only feel your normal amount of sadness that you usually feel for him. Beyond those two announcements and Kelly Thompson back on Jeff The Landshark for Marvel — I’m not sure what I know that I can publicly discuss — but the good news is there’s a ton of wonderful new comics heading your way. And new publishers — congrats to our friends at Ignition Press.
Ed took a break from post production work on CRIMINAL, and talk about his new comics coming from he and Sean later this year.

Mark Torres and I are joining Jordan and Patton Oswalt’s Minor Threats universe with a story in their anthology this summer. The Hollywood Reporter has more details on WELCOME TO TWILIGHT CITY.
This is a story that Mark and I have been wanting to tell for a long time, and it turns out we needed Jordan, Patton and Scott Hepburn to build Twilight City first.
There was a great cloth gift bag from your friends at Tiny Onion and it had a fun assortment of comics and the latest Zdarsky Comic News featuring an absolute unit of Chip. Garry and I signed the last of the first issue reprints of Falling In Love On The Path To Hell and even bagged and boarded them. I’d forgotten how tedious that is. FML and the Horizon Experiment’s
James’ new Image Comic collaboration is a Voltron of creators doing their best work and embarking on a store signing tour. Check out more details here, and James has written extensively about what’s in store on his Substack.
Programming note: You’ll see more of Jae & June together later this year from Image Comics when I’m joined by Robert Windom & Kelvin Mao. More details soon.
Santa also put Matthew Rosenberg’s new collaboration is WE’RE TAKING EVERYONE DOWN WITH US, in the gift bag — and the first issue has also been previewed as an ashcan. It’s dark and funny and sweet, just like Matthew.
If you can’t get your mitts on the ashcan, you can check out a big preview over at IGN.
Last night was fun.
I think we’re going to do it again.
It was great to see you.
Or, sorry we missed you.
We love comics, and we love you.
Bye!

A look at the book I’ll send you and an example of the signed comics I’ll send to you when you subscribe. Thanks for the support!
This is too cool. I wish I made it down to ComicsPRO this year because it seems like it was a massive blow out in a way it isn't always.
